Combination of convergence groups
We state and prove a combination theorem for relatively hyperbolic groups seen as geometrically finite convergence groups. For that, we explain how to contruct a boundary for a group that is an acylindrical amalgamation of relatively hyperbolic groups over a fully quasi-convex subgroup. We apply our result to Sela’s theory on limit groups and prove their relative hyperbolicity. We also get a pr...
متن کاملNearly Disjoint Sequences in Convergence -groups
For an abelian lattice ordered group G let convG be the system of all compatible convergences on G; this system is a meet semilattice but in general it fails to be a lattice. Let αnd be the convergence on G which is generated by the set of all nearly disjoint sequences in G, and let α be any element of convG. In the present paper we prove that the join αnd ∨ α does exist in convG.
متن کاملAbelian Nondiscrete Convergence Groups in the Plane
Let g generate a nondiscrete convergence group in the 2-sphere S 2. We show that then there exists a homeomorphism f of S 2 onto itself such that (f ?1 gf)(z) equals e 2ii z or e 2ii = z where is an irrational number. In combination with known results this implies that every sense-preserving cyclic convergence group in S 2 is topologically conjugate to a group of MM obius transformations. Furth...
متن کاملBootstrapping Noun Groups Using Closed-Class Elements Only
The identification of noun groups in text is a well researched task and serves as a pre-step for other natural language processing tasks, such as the extraction of keyphrases or technical terms. We present a first version of a noun group chunker that, given an unannotated text corpus, adapts itself to the domain at hand in an unsupervised way. Our approach is inspired by findings from cognitive...
